His Divine Grace Swarup Rupanugabara Om Vishnupad Paramhans Parivrajakacharya Braja 108 Tridandi Swami Sri Srimat Bhakti Sravan Tirtha Goswami Maharaj was an enlightened master and a great universal humanitarian, whose love and compassion encompassed all, transcending the barriers of caste, creed, nationality and religion. In keeping with the great traditions of the masters His life was spent in the service of the needy, the poor, the diseased and the seekers. He appeared on this earth on 16th March 1926, on the auspicious day of Falguni Purnima. He was born in a prosperous and pious Bengali family settled in Allahabad, Uttarpradesh. His father was a doctor of medicine and mother a professor.

Baba mastered the scriptures at a tender age and gave His first discourse on Kathopanishad in Allahabad at the age of 15. He completed His Post Graduation from Allahabad University in English and Philosophy with first class. From a very young age, Baba started showing signs of renunciation and left home at the age of nineteen and took Spiritual Initiation from His Divine Grace Bhakti Pradip Tirtha Goswami Maharaj. He took Monastic Initiation on Maghi Purnima in 1950.

In 1980-81 He established the Laxmi Narsingha Temple in Bhubaneswar and started treating the sick with Tulasi leaves and Charanamrita. In 1985, to commemorate the 500th birth centenary of Sriman Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, He undertook a historic Padayatra from Kharagpur to Puri and then to Rameshwaram accompanied by 15000 devotees. During the Padayatra Baba was instrumental in renovating 108 temples in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. He established a charitable dispensary in Bhubaneswar in 1985 and it has been providing valuable services since. Baba’s ideology was simple –that of love and service.

His Divine Grace Bhakti Sravan Tirtha Goswami Maharaja’s philosophy and teaching was simple-‘Service’, ‘Service to the Nation, Service to the poor and Service to the needy’. He especially laid emphasis in providing essential health services and for this purpose with the motto of ‘Swastha Seva Param Seva’ he started a Mobile Dispensary in 2001 to reach inaccessible and remote areas of Orissa. He also established a charitable dispensary with an aim to provide basic e health services free of cost those belonging to Below Poverty Line. During Natural Calamities He personally visited the affected areas to give solace and reassurance to the victims with his kind words along with Humanitarian aid. Baba’s was extremely secular in His thoughts-individuals from different caste, creed, gender, country and religion came to Him for guidance and assistance.

Baba’s life has been a reflection of austerity, sacrifice, dedication, devotion and compassion. He has been an embodiment of Godliness and personification of spiritual perfection. Sri Gurudev entered the eternal pastimes of the Lord on 1st December 2004, Agrahan Krishna Chaturthi. His Samadhi Mandir, now His Eternal residence, was inaugurated on 25th July 2010, Guru Purnima. It possesses the same spiritual potency as Baba Himself and is a place of pilgrimage for devotees.
